New Delhi, Nov O5: Dr. Richa Gupta, Assistant Professor from the Department of Human-Centered Design at Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi, has received funding under the JST LOTUS 2026 – ASPIRE Track, offered by the Japan Science and Technology Agency.

IIIT-Delhi's Dr. Richa Gupta Awarded Research Grant Under Japan's JST LOTUS 2026

The grant has been obtained for the project entitled “Tactile Display System with Multiple Joints Augmented by Robot Manipulator.” It will be led by Dr. Gupta as the PI of India, collaborating with Prof. Riichiro Tadakuma from the Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering, Yamagata University, Japan, as the PI of Japan.

This project will receive JPY 4,134,000 (approximately INR 24.92 lakh) in the first year.. The research will look at ways to use robotic manipulators with multiple joints in tactile display systems. Researchers from both institutions will each bring their own distinct experiences and understanding of the subject.

Expressing her views on being awarded the grant, Dr. Richa Gupta remarked,

“It makes me very happy that this research has been supported by the JST LOTUS program. Our collaboration with Prof. Riichiro Tadakuma’s team from Yamagata University will provide us with an opportunity to explore some fascinating issues related to tactile display systems and robotic manipulation. I am excited to work with them and see how this research unfolds under this Indo-Japanese collaboration.”

This grant will help the researchers in their efforts towards completing the project in the next three years, allowing IIIT-Delhi and Yamagata University to conduct research in this field in collaboration.
