Assam Battles Severe Flood Crisis as Rising Waters Impact Over 2 Lakh People

Guwahati, July 31: Assam is facing a severe flood situation, with the death toll climbing to 80 and more than 2.12 lakh people affected across eight districts, as continuous rainfall and rising river levels continue to disrupt normal life.

Floodwaters have submerged several villages, damaged homes, affected agricultural land, and created challenges for communities across the affected districts. Many residents have been shifted to safer locations, while relief and rescue operations are underway.

State authorities, along with disaster response teams, are working on the ground to provide emergency assistance, including food supplies, medical support, and temporary shelter for displaced families. Relief camps have been established in vulnerable areas to support those impacted by the floods.
