EntertainmentK Puspa04 Nov 2026

Mumbai, Nov 04: Music reality shows have traditionally been judged by the talent they discover and the performers they produce. With I-Popstar Vol. 2, Rusk Media is pushing that model further, building a platform where original songs can find audiences beyond the show, regional sounds can reach wider markets, and emerging artists can develop distinct musical identities. As the season reaches its grand finale week, the property has generated 2 billion social views, inspired over 300,000 Reels using its songs and crossed 62 million views across its music videos. The season has also produced more than 90 original songs, amounting to over four hours of original music.

Media Release: Rusk Media’s I-Popstar Is Redefining Music Reality Shows, Turning Emerging Artists into Breakout Music Acts

Streaming on Netflix and Alright! TV, the 20-episode season features Neha Kakkar, KING and Aditya Rikhari as mentors, with Wicked Sunny as host. Across three phases of competition, the show has brought together performers with different sounds, stories and ambitions, placing original music at the centre of the experience. The season has also featured appearances by Elvish Yadav, Munawar Faruqui, Orry, Rakhi Sawant, Ravi Kishan and Tony Kakkar, adding to the range of voices and personalities engaging with the property.

One of the clearest examples of the show's impact is Nishant Mukta, whose music has found audiences well beyond the competition. His Bhoji Pop track UP Wali Laiki has garnered 1.8 million streams on Spotify and 18 million views on YouTube, while Bombay Ki Rani has crossed 10 million YouTube views. With successive releases gaining traction, Nishant is emerging as a notable example of how a regional sound can travel into the wider pop landscape. His journey reflects the potential for music-led entertainment to bring regional genres to new audiences and create momentum for artists beyond a single performance.

The season has also seen performers build connections with audiences through songs that carry a strong point of view. Anmol Salh, mentored by Aditya Rikhari, has drawn attention for his emotive performances and romantic musical identity. His first performance on the show, Judaai, has crossed 2 million views, while audiences online have discussed the potential of his songs for film soundtracks. His journey highlights how artists discovered through entertainment formats can become part of wider conversations spanning independent music, film and popular culture.

Gargi, mentored by Neha Kakkar, has made a distinct impression with 4 Khapeetar, an original song exploring women's strength and the realities of navigating a world where their safety is often under scrutiny. The performance has generated 4.4 million views across social media, alongside 800,000 streams as reported for the track. Its resonance demonstrates how original music can become part of wider cultural conversations when an artist articulates experiences that audiences recognise. The song remains an expression of Gargi's own artistic perspective.

Sameeksha Sarkar, mentored by KING, has continued to build her identity as a performer through original music. Her song Bhediya explores women's experiences of sexual violence and the social conditions that shape their everyday lives. She has also collaborated with emerging indie-pop sensation Aroob on Jugni, extending her musical repertoire and demonstrating the possibilities for artists to build connections beyond the show.

Chetanya Vaish, mentored by Neha Kakkar, has also seen growing audience interest in his music. Following the response to No Fear, his collaboration with Neha Kakkar on Gal Naal has been receiving considerable love from listeners. The collaboration illustrates how the show can create opportunities for emerging artists to work alongside established musicians, bringing together different audiences and musical sensibilities.

Meanwhile, Janki, mentored by Aditya Rikhari, represents the potential of Gujarati pop to reach new audiences. Her music, including songs rooted in the energy and cultural traditions of Navratri, brings a regional sound into a digital-first entertainment environment where artists can connect with listeners across geographies.

The six finalists entering the season finale are Nishant Mukta and Chetanya Vaish, mentored by Neha Kakkar; Sameeksha Sarkar and Markio Tanaldo, mentored by KING; and Anmol Salh and Padmanabh Gaikwad, mentored by Aditya Rikhari.

The season has also demonstrated the potential of music-led entertainment to create meaningful opportunities for brand participation. I-Popstar Vol. 2 brought together 12 brand partners across presenting, co-powered-by and category associations. L’Oréal Paris India and Ai+ Nova Smartphone joined as Co-presenting Partners, while Center Fresh and Smirnoff Lemon Pop Non Alcoholic came on board as Co-powered-by Partners. The wider partner line-up included Denver Perfumes as Fragrance Partner, Sennheiser as Sound Partner, Radio Mirchi as Radio Partner, Saregama as Music Partner, Godrej Appliances as Quality Partner, VI-JOHN as Grooming Partner, Domino’s as Binge Partner and Mr Makhana as Snacking Partner.
