Kia India Strengthens Customer Confidence in Connected Mobility with AIS 189 and AIS 190 Compliance

NEW DELHI, India, 14 October 2026: Kia India, one of the country’s leading mass-premium automakers, today announced that it has received AIS 189 and AIS 190 "Confirmation of Compliance (CoC)" Certification from ARAI for its vehicle portfolio. The certifications emphasize Kia India’s commitment to secure connected mobility and compliance with industry requirements for vehicle cybersecurity and software update management. As connected technologies become an integral part of the driving and ownership experience, ensuring the security and reliability of vehicle software is increasingly important.

Kia India’s compliance with AIS 189 and AIS 190 reinforces its systematic approach to identifying and managing cybersecurity risks, safeguarding software updates and maintaining robust processes throughout the vehicle lifecycle. The AIS 189 certification validates Kia India’s Cyber Security Management System, covering cybersecurity governance, risk assessment, incident management, organisational capabilities and continuous monitoring of cybersecurity risks throughout the vehicle lifecycle. The AIS 190 certification validates its Software Update Management System, encompassing software update planning, validation, deployment, OTA package protection, traceability, monitoring and regulatory compliance.

For customers, these measures are designed to strengthen confidence in connected vehicle technologies and contribute to a more secure, reliable and seamless ownership experience. Securely managed over-the-air (OTA) updates will enable eligible software updates to be delivered conveniently, while robust validation and monitoring processes will help maintain software integrity and reliability throughout the vehicle lifecycle.

Commenting on the certifications, Atul Sood, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Kia India, said, “As vehicles become increasingly connected and software-driven, safeguarding the customer’s connected mobility experience is as important as ensuring performance, quality and safety on the road. The AIS 189 and AIS 190 certifications reflect Kia India's commitment to maintaining robust cybersecurity and software update management practices throughout the vehicle lifecycle. Through these systems, we are strengthening protection, reliability and trust while delivering secure and continuously evolving mobility experiences to our customers." The initiative reinforces the security and reliability of Kia’s increasingly connected and software-enabled vehicles throughout their lifecycle - from development and production through post-production support.

Through robust cybersecurity governance, continuous risk assessment, incident-response preparedness and secure software update management, Kia India is further enhancing its ability to identify, assess and address emerging cyber risks. Kia India’s implementation roadmap includes continuous risk monitoring, employee awareness and competency development, internal audits, process improvement initiatives, cybersecurity incident preparedness and ongoing compliance activities to support secure connected mobility for its customers.
