IFC Grants US$30 Million Loan to Grupo Naturasol to Boost Sustainable Food Processing in Mexico

Mexico City, September 25, 2025. The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, announced a senior secured loan of US$30 million to Grupo Naturasol, a leading Mexican producer and distributor of packaged foods, including cereal bars, nuts, honey, and snacks such as processed potatoes and corn-based products.

The financing will support the installation of new production lines and infrastructure in Naturasol’s potato and corn processing operations, enhancing its capacity to meet growing demand while promoting sustainability and inclusion in Mexico’s agribusiness sector.

Founded in 1986, Naturasol employs over 3,700 people and has earned a reputation for meeting strict standards in sustainability, food safety, innovation, and supply reliability. The company sources primarily from domestic farmers and distributes its products through thousands of retail outlets, including informal small businesses, creating strong productive linkages across the country.

The loan is expected to help generate hundreds of jobs and improve water efficiency by at least 5% compared to industry averages. IFC will also provide gender advisory services to help foster an equitable workplace culture through inclusive corporate practices and policies.

This investment contributes to market creation by setting new benchmarks for productive efficiency and sustainability in Mexico’s snack sector, where local producers face challenges competing with multinational brands.

“This investment reflects IFC’s strategic priorities in Mexico, such as job creation, private sector-led growth, integrating farmers into food supply chains, and promoting inclusive and sustainable business models,” said Sanaa Abouzaid, IFC Country Manager for Mexico. “We are thrilled to partner with IFC on this transformative project,” said Ulises Vigil, Chief Operating Officer of Grupo Naturasol. “This investment will not only allow us to expand our production capacity and improve resource efficiency, but also strengthen our commitment to sustainability and inclusive growth. We aim to set new standards in Mexico’s food processing industry and create meaningful opportunities for our employees, suppliers, and communities.”

This partnership marks an important step toward strengthening Mexico’s agribusiness sector, promoting formal employment, and advancing climate resilience through sustainable food processing.
